Egypt is currently ranked 8th on the world pollution index which means that it's really time to start managing our waste in a way that helps us protect our planet.

We all consume huge quantities of materials that end up either neglected or thrown away which increases pollution. However, we can put the waste into good use, which can be done by recycling.

Recycling is simply transforming waste into reusable matters.

Types of Recycling:

Ferrous Metals

Ferrous products (i.e., iron and steel) can be recycled into organic compounds, fertilizers, electric arcs and oxygen furnaces in addition to the recycled ferrous metals from basic ores. The recycling process is much cheaper than the production of new metal. In addition, the production of new metals has many disadvantages such as air pollution and machines and power consumption.

Nonferrous Metals

Nonferrous scrap materials such as Aluminum, copper, and lead are thrown into a reverberatory furnace and melted while the impurities are burned off till they become good to use again.

Recycled aluminum is a major source in beverage cans and food tins. And due to the huge use of these materials, it will save a lot of expenses to recycle them from thrown away trash
Like ferrous materials, it’s better to recycle non-ferrous metals than manufacture them due to the same harms to the people and the environment.

Shredded rubber can be used as an additive in asphalt pavements, and discarded tires may be used as components of swings and other recreational climbing equipment in tire playgrounds for children. Manufacturing new rubber leads to additional high cost, air pollution and eventually causing diseases like blood diseases and respiratory system diseases.

Paper And Other Cellulose Products
By recycling paper, we get new papers, boxboards, tissues, and towels, cellulose insulation and other building products. The kraft process of papermaking produces a variety of liquid wastes that produce chemicals like turpentine, dimethyl sulfide, alcohol, and acetone. It’s better to recycle as there are many disadvantages of producing new papers such as the high cost of maintenance and production.

One of the biggest reasons for plastic recycling is its huge quantity. It has been observed that 90% of the waste is plastic waste. The recycling of plastic helps save a lot of energy and natural resources as these are the main ingredients required for making new plastic. Saving petroleum, water, and other natural resources help conserve the balance in nature. Also throwing plastics in waters leads to fish death and fish diseases that get transferred to humans eventually, the same goes for animals and soil.

By recycled plastic, we get new process products like kitchenware, packaging materials, carpeting, bottles, and many other products.

Some of the recycling places in Egypt:
1. Go green environmental services at New Cairo.
2. Go clean at Masr el gedida
3. Recycling in Egypt at El Tahrir
4. RecycloBekia at Maadi
5. Bekia at Dokki
6. Trash4cash (online)

In the end, we all should take a real step in conserving our environment and exert efforts for the sustainability of eco-friendly life in Egypt.
